More Beacon Colors FAQ

I don't see the button.

It sits just outside the top-right corner of the beacon window (left of it on very narrow screens). If it is missing, check that showButton and enabled are true in config/morebeaconcolors.json, and that Mycel is installed.

Does the server need the mod?

Only if you want other players to see your colors. On a server without it, the menu still works, but colors are kept on your computer and only you see them. The title bar of the menu tells you which case you are in.

Can players without the mod join?

Yes. They see vanilla beams (stained glass still works for them), and nothing else changes. Players with the mod can also join servers without it.

Does stained glass still work?

Yes, on beacons set to Vanilla, which is every beacon until someone picks a color. A colored beacon ignores the glass above it. Reset in the menu gives the glass back control.

My gradient looks like one color.

A gradient spans the whole beam, from the beacon to the top of the world, so near the beacon you mostly see the first color. Look up, or scroll over the preview to zoom out and see the whole beam. For a faster change, add more colors or use the same color twice near the start.

How many colors can a gradient have?

Up to 16, for gradients and pulses alike. Use + next to the color row to add one after the selected color, - to remove it, and Reverse to flip the order.

Who can change a beacon's color on a server?

Anyone who can open the beacon, within 8 blocks of it. The server checks that the beacon is really there and in reach. Server owners can turn off animated beams with allowAnimated, or the whole mod with enabled; see configuration.

What happens when I break a colored beacon?

Its colors are forgotten. A new beacon in the same spot starts out vanilla.

What happens if I uninstall it?

Beams go back to vanilla, and stained glass decides again. The colors stay in <world>/data/morebeaconcolors.json in case you come back.
